Elinor Klapp-Phipps Park

03 July 2016

670 acres, oh man.

I have been wanting to check out this park forever and I finally did!! Elinor Klapp-Phipps is huge, with multiple entrances and even a soccer facility. Go Tallahassee.

I parked at Gate B and walked along parts of the shared use trails for three miles. I was afraid with so many trails that they would not be well kept, however I was completely wrong. The shared use trail was really well-kept and wide. I even got to see a cute little baby deer along the way.

This is a park I hope to visit many more times before I leave Tallahassee because of the abundance of trails. Reminder: bring lots of water because it is summer in Florida and hydration is the key to happiness.

Okeeheepkee Prairie Park

04 June 2016

I decided to wander over to Tallahassee’s newest park earlier this month for a quaint afternoon walk.

The park is tucked away near the I-10/North Monroe Junction. It is definitely a great place to go if you don’t have much time to spare. The park itself is 26 acres, but the walking/recreational area is pretty small.

I walked around for about an hour and it was really nice! There were only a few other people there. Since it is so new the walking path is very developed and easy to walk along.

Highlight: saw an alligator

Apalachee Regional Park

19 March 2016

I headed over to Apalachee Regional Parl for a lovely Saturday morning stroll.

The park is normally used for cross country and other sporting events, but when those are not taking place the trails are great to walk, bike or run on. I planned on doing the warm-up trail, but I couldn’t tell you which one I ended up walking. I do know it was very easy and beautiful.

Unfortunately, the rain from the night before caused patches of the trail to be muddy. However, it only made the adventure more fun. I definitely recommend it for those who live in Tallahassee because of its close by  location.
