Vortex Springs

25 June 2016

Last weekend I drove over to Vortex Springs with a few friends and I have to say I mixed feelings about this place.

Apparently this is THE place to go if you dive, but I do not so this is from a lowly swimmers perspective. Vortex definitely offers a lot to keep you entertained. There are slides, platforms to jump off, plenty of picnic tables, a pavilion, a general store and more. Another plus is you can drink there since it is privately owned. It was definitely a sweet day trip.

Now for some of the downsides. Instead of paying per car, it does cost $8 per person to swim for the day which is a little pricey. Also, there was a large pipe pushing water into one of the swimming areas, which kind of threw off the whole “I’m enjoying the natural beauty of the outdoors” aspect of going to the springs.

However, I definitely recommend checking this place out. It’s only about an hour and a half from Tallahassee.
